One of my favorite newsletters set the tone for today

I’m a little under the weather and a little weepy this fine Sunday, so I don’t think I’m going to do a deep dive on anything. I’ve been reckoning with my relationship to Stuff, too, and that’s a whole other beast, so no deep dive on gear. But we can still do something productive here.

This week, I’m going to start with my latest style inspo—a style that I think I’ve been coming back to for decades and one that is a constant, regardless of the shapeshifting I’m doing based on who I’m around and where I’m physically located (more on that another time).

There’s just something about the vintage outdoors that gets me, and this pic below has been stuck in my brain lately.

Like all great style inspiration, it looks comfortable, effortless, and natural. My attempts to recreate the look with my current wardrobe weren’t quite up to snuff, but maybe I’ll compile some fit pics this week, gather some more moodboard pics, and we can see what we get.

Every Sunday, one of my favorite newsletters hits my inbox: Maybe Baby.

This week’s edition hit me harder than most, and did a lot of heavy lifting when it comes to putting words to how I’ve been feeling for the last few months.

To me, it’s about the agony of impatience. She calls it “the desire trap.” Basically, while waiting for an answer we desperately want, what’s better? The actual answer or the relief of the waiting being over? Honestly, there’s no point in my trying to summarize. Just read it. Here’s a link.

I’m going to keep it short this week, because I want you to read her essay. It’s better than anything I feel like even remotely trying to write today.
